Paratrooper Joseph André Gallant
PARATROOPER JOSEPH ANDRÉ GALLANT


Paratrooper Joseph André Gallant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus E. Gallant, enlisted in the army on April 3, 1951.

He served with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, qualifying as paratrooper with over 250 para jumps in 1951. He was in Korea from November, 1951 to December, 1952.

Other service postings include: Calgary 1953; Germany 1953-1956; Edmonton 1956-1966; Cyprus 1973; Camp Borden 1966-1970 where he instructed Officer Cadets, Junior and Senior N.C.O.'s in weapons; he was then posted in Winnipeg with the Pat's until retiring from the service in 1975.


Promotions: 1951-1954 Private, 1955-1956 L/Cpl., 1957-1965 Cpl., 1966-1973 Sgt., 1973-1975 W.O.

Medals include: Korean Medal, United Nations (Korea and Cyprus), Canadian Decoration Medal and Clasp.

Steward Bélonie Gallant, son of Gilbert Gallant and Rose Haché, served in the Merchant Navy and in the Korean Conflict in the 6th Coy Royal Canadian Army Service Corps from January 16, 1952 to August 31, 1954. He received the Korea United Nations Service Medal.

Pte. Léo Gallant
PTE. LÉO GALLANT


Pte. Léo Gallant, son of Mr. & Mrs. Aubin J. Gallant, enlisted in the army on July 25, 1950 with the Royal 22nd Regiment.

He served in Korea for 18 months. He also served in the Paratroopers before going to Korea, having seven para jumps to his credit.

He was discharged from service on September 7, 1953.

He received the Korean and United Nations Medals.


Gnr. Raymond A. Gallant, son of Nicholas Gallant and Lucie Arsenault, enlisted in the army on October 19, 1949.

He served in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in the Far East (Korea) as an observer and in the Middle East (Egypt) with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps.

He received the following medals: United Nations Service Medal, Korean Medal, United Nations Emergency Force Medal.

He was discharged from the service on July 4, 1963.

Petty Officer Wilfred Joseph Gallant
PETTY OFFICER WILFRED JOSEPH GALLANT


Petty Officer Wilfred Joseph Gallant, son of Joseph Gallant and Anna Thompson, enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on April 3, 1950. He served during the Korean Conflict on the H.M.C.S. Huron, patrolling the coast of Korea. During his 25 years in the Armed Forces, he served on many ships and in different military bases from 1950 to 1972, such as: Brunswicker, Cornwallis, "Ontario", "Antigonish", Stadacona, "Magnificent", "Huron", "Sioux", "Gatineau", "Provider", "Granby", "Fraser", "Saguenay" and Summerside.


He retired from the Armed Forces on April 4, 1975 after 25 years service.

He received the U.N. Korea Medal, the CD Clasp and the 25 year Silver Pin.

Pte. Alcide Gaudet, son of Edmond F. Gaudet and Délima Gallant, enlisted in the Canadian Army on September 15, 1950.

He received his training in Saint John (N.B.) and served in Canada and in the Korean Conflict (1952-1953).

He was discharged on October 15, 1954.
