Trinity United Church
Victoria Road at Matilda Street

The parish of Trinity United Church was created by combining three distinctive congregations; St. James, St. Mark's (both Presbyterian) and Victoria Methodist United in 1937. Trinity United Church is the second Church to be built on this location. The first Church was St. James Presbyterian, which was built in 1900 and was destroyed by fire in 1906. A second St. James Church was built by M. R. Chappell Ltd. Of Sydney, and was dedicated in 1907.

The 1937 union of the three Churches resulting in Trinity United was a success. It joined Scottish Presbyterians from Victoria County with Methodists whose roots were in Newfoundland, as well as smaller numbers from other ethnic groups, including Hungarians and West Indians.

Trinity United Church is one of the more elaborate architectural features of Whitney Pier. The building, designed and constructed by Chappell's, is built of wood and one of its features is an inset corner tower with a steeple situated between two gabled ends giving a hexagon effect. The interior is warm with wood tones that reflect light from its Gothic windows. The seating is circular and graded slightly like an amphitheatre, with attention focusing on the pulpit. The Church serves about 300 families.
