Kim
Y. Hanewich was born in small town Ontario in 1956 and now lives
in a cabin in the bush just south of Algonquin Park with her husband
and two children. She paints, raises small livestock, and tends
to her gardens.
She has viewed major exhibitions in Canada, United States, Netherlands,
Austria, Germany, Sweden and France.
In 1981, with funding provided by the Ontario Arts Council, She
worked as an assistant printmaker at Art's Sake, an independent
art school in Toronto, run by a group of working artists who branched
out of Three Schools. At this time she appeared in a Maclean Hunter
documentary Series: Art About, aired Sept. 1982, assisting the artist
Diane Pugen.
She helped teach the art program of the special ed. class 85-86,
at Harold Wagner Elementary School, Waterloo Regional Board of Education,
and has some experience supply teaching at Madawaska Valley District
High School, Barry's Bay Ontario.
She was
profiled in the Culture section of the annual publication Kitchener
- Waterloo Profile 87.
She is represented in A Celebration of Rural Living 1994
International Plowing Match Calendar.
In 1993-94 and 1994-95 she was assistant coordinator of the gallery
at the Madawaska Valley Community Arts Council Summer Arts and Crafts
Show in Barry's Bay.
On June 5 1994 Eight Stories from Artisans of the Madawaska
was released on Maclean Hunter Cable TV. She was one of the artists
featured in this program by producers Ruben Denty and Scott Iverson.
In October 1994 she also participated in the Madawaska Valley Autumn
Studio Tour and was featured in the Barry's Bay This Week October
4, 1994.
