Welfare Incomes is the only report available that estimates total welfare incomes in each province and territory in Canada.
It shows welfare incomes for four household types in each jurisdiction - a single employable person, a single person with a disability, a lone parent with a 2-year-old child and a two-parent family with two children aged 10 and 15 - for a total of 52 scenarios. The NCW has calculated similar estimates since 1986. To measure the adequacy of welfare incomes, we use a number of measures including Statistics Canada's low income cut-offs (LICOs), the Market Basket Measure (MBM), median income and average income.
