Peru-Japan Meeting in Toronto

Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced that President
Fujimori of Peru and Prime Minister Hashimoto of Japan will meet
Saturday February 1st in Toronto to discuss ways to resolve the
ongoing hostage-taking in Lima. Canada has been chosen for the
site of this meeting because of its role as a member of the Commission
of Guarantors and the convenience of its location for both leaders.
