Statement by the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today expressed his sadness at the news of the earthquake that struck Greece:
"The thoughts of all Canadians are with the people of Greece as they struggle to cope with this disaster. And special prayers go out to those who have suffered the irreplaceable loss of family or friends.
Aline joins me in extending deepest sympathies to those who are grieving at this terrible time and in expressing the fervent hope that they will be able to find support and comfort in the difficult days to come."
