Prime Minister announces Denis Coderre as new Special Adviser for Haiti

Prime Minister Paul Martin today announced the appointment of the Honourable Denis Coderre, MP for Bourassa, as Special Adviser for Haiti.

“Denis Coderre has shown a commitment to helping the people of Haiti and recently traveled to the country,” said the Prime Minister.

Mr. Coderre will report to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on issues surrounding the crisis in Haiti, represent Canada at international meetings on the topic of Haiti and work with civil society to help find solutions for Haiti.

Mr. Coderre’s appointment will help ensure Canada’s commitment to Haiti. Canada has pledged $147 million to the crisis in Haiti.
