The Federal Consultation Network includes representatives of federal departments and agencies who are involved in consultation and citizen engagement activities. Members of the network serve as gateways to their respective organizations, increasing awareness and sharing information on federal consultation and citizen engagement initiatives with their colleagues.
As consultation and citizen engagement increasingly become an integral part of the business of government, the consultation "community of practice" is continually expanding. With the introduction of the online environment, the Government-on-Line and information technology communities are new key partners in this work. The integration of online tools and techniques has both enriched and strengthened the government's consultation and engagement capacity, as well as provided new opportunities for collaboration and learning.
