DATE: April 19, 2002
TO: All public servants
FROM: Mel Cappe
Clerk of the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the
Public Service
SUBJECT: Know a colleague whose work deserves an
award?
We want to hear from you!
Today, I am launching the nomination process for the
2002 Head of the Public Service Award.
I am asking for your help in recognizing individuals or
teams who have demonstrated excellence, by nominating them for this
year's Award.
This Award is unique, as public servants at all levels
across Canada and abroad, are eligible and may be nominated by any other
public servant. Only twenty Awards are presented each year.
The four categories for the Award are areas of great
importance to me as Head of the Public Service. They are: Excellence in
Service Delivery, Excellence in Policy, Valuing and Supporting People,
and Values and Ethics.
In addition to the four categories, I am launching two
new sub-categories of the category "Excellence in Service
Delivery".
The first sub-category "Service
Transformation" increases awareness of and confirms high level
commitment to achieve Government On-Line by the year 2005.
The second sub-category "Collaborative Working
Relationships", recognises the importance of strong collaborative
relationships in advancing the Government's policy agenda, improving
service delivery and enabling the Government to address the increasingly
complex and horizontal challenges facing Canadians.
Please look for the nomination form and a more detailed
explanation of the categories on line and submit your nominations by June 14, 2002.
There are many stories to tell about the extraordinary
accomplishments of public servants who make Canada a better place.
Together, we can celebrate that the Public Service of Canada is one of
the finest in this world.
Thank you.
