MINISTER STÉPHANE DION LAUNCHES
NEW INTERNET SITE: "CANADA CONVERSATION"
July 11, 1996 – Stéphane Dion, President of the Queen’s Privy
Council and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, today put the finishing
touches on the new Intergovernmental Affairs Internet site. A temporary site had
been launched last April.
In addition to a whole new look and feel to the Internet site, it also has a new
name: Canada Conversation (Conversation Canada in French). "We chose this
name because we want this site to be a place where Canadians share their
thoughts, ideas and questions about Canada, with us and with one another,"
said Mr Dion.
"We have many reasons to be proud to be Canadian," stated the
Minister. "Canada is a model of openness, tolerance and generosity that is
the envy of the world. Nevertheless, we must not take our country for granted
and we must pool our efforts and work together to ensure our future," he
added.
The site contains various publications on the Canadian federation, the
Constitution, the heritage and history of Canada, speeches by the Minister,
press releases, and information on Intergovernmental Affairs. It also contains
links to other interesting sites and networks.
Minister Dion invited all Canadians to visit the site, to use it as much as they
wish and to continue to provide their comments and suggestions on Canada.
"I hope that you find the Internet site useful and I look forward to
receiving your feedback," said the Minister.
