Prime Minister pays tribute to the late Jean-Luc Pepin
September 5, 1995
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today paid tribute to the
late Jean-Luc Pepin:
Jean-Luc Pepin was a man of ideas and courage, an outstanding
parliamentarian who was always very eloquent in representing the
interests of his constituents in the House of Commons.
Jean-Luc Pepin was a remarkable colleague with whom I had the
opportunity to serve in Cabinet in two administrations. During
his brilliant public career, he stood out because of his ability
to tackle the major issues of the day. The prime ministers he
served entrusted him with challenging responsibilities, including
the co-chairmanship of the Task Force on Canadian Unity in 1977.
Among my many memories of Jean-Luc Pepin, I will remember,
above all, his unwavering faith in Canada and its future.
The Prime Minister and Madame Chrétien offer their sincere
condolences to the family and friends of the late Jean-Luc Pepin.
