Prime Minister Announces Senior Appointment

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment
of George R. M. Anderson as Deputy Secretary (Intergovernmental
Policy) with the Privy Council Office.
Mr. Anderson will be responsible for policy development in the
area of intergovernmental relations, including research, constitutional
and legal issues, aboriginal affairs and Canadian unity.
Mr. Anderson has held a variety of senior positions within the
federal government, including Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance.
His most recent position was Head of Policy Branch, Foreign Affairs
and International Trade Canada.
This appointment is effective immediately.
