Tribute to the late Carl Goldenberg:

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today paid tribute to former
senator H. Carl Goldenberg:
"I was saddened to learn of the death of Carl Goldenberg,
a man who advised Canadian prime ministers since Mackenzie King.
I will remember him as a brilliant man with a remarkable command
of wide-ranging policy issues. He was an eminent lawyer, a respected
senator, a noted constitutional expert, and one of Canada's leading
labour conciliators who helped to settle some of the most difficult
labour disputes across the country. He was a modest and unassuming
man, but always very articulate and persuasive. Above all, he
was deeply committed to public service and to Canada.
Aline joins me in extending sincere condolences to the family
and friends of the late Carl Goldenberg."
