Appointment of Executive Director of Round Table

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment
of David McGuinty as Executive Director of the National Round
Table on the Environment and the Economy.
Mr. McGuinty is an environmental law and policy specialist with
both academic and private practice experience. He has served
as Director of Policy and Programs and Special Advisor to the
Chair of the Round Table since July 1995.
Previously, Mr. McGuinty worked as a Program Legal Counsel and
Resident Environmental Law Specialist at the International Development
Law Institute in Rome, Italy. He also practised law in London,
England and worked as an External Relations Officer with the United
Nations Children's Fund.
The Round Table formally reports to the Prime Minister and, as
such, is in a key position to influence ongoing efforts to meet
the goals of sustainable development.
