House appointment announced

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien announced today that the government
has proposed that Peter Milliken, M.P. (Kingston and the Islands)
fill the position of Deputy Chair of Committees of the Whole.
Peter Milliken was born in Kingston on November 12, 1946. A lawyer,
he was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988, and re-elected
in 1993. Earlier during this Parliament he served as Parliamentary
Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
