Prime Minister Announces Senior Appointments

Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the following senior
appointments:
- Larry Murray, formerly Acting Chief of the Defence Staff, becomes
Associate Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, effective
immediately.
- Verna Bruce, currently Deputy Minister of Health and Social
Services, Government of Prince Edward Island, becomes
Associate Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, effective January 5,
1998.
- Samy Watson, currently Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet
(Priorities and Planning), Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy
Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultation), Privy Council
Office, effective immediately. He replaces Wayne Wouters who
was appointed Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans on
September 2, 1997.
- Michelle Comeau, currently Assistant Deputy Minister
(Operations), Department of Industry, becomes Associate Deputy
Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, effective December 8, 1997.
