President of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia makes First Official Visit to Canada

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced that Mr. Boris Trajkovski, President of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will make an official visit to Canada, February 4-8.
"Canada is committed to peace and reconciliation in the Balkans. Our two countries are working together in pursuit of these shared objectives as we also build on our bilateral relations," said the Prime Minister. "This visit will serve to promote commercial and economic cooperation between our two countries."
On February 4, Mr. Trajkovski arrives in Toronto, where he will meet with representatives of the Canadian-Macedonian community and tour the De Havilland plant of Bombardier Aerospace.
On February 6, President Trajkovski travels to Ottawa, where he will meet Prime Minister Chrétien, Ministers Axworthy and Minna, the Speaker of the Senate, attend Question Period in the House of Commons and speak at a Newsmaker Breakfast at the National Press Club. He will leave Canada on February 8.
