PRIME MINISTER NAMES
PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIES

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien announced today the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries to assist Ministers with their parliamentary and portfolio responsibilities.

"I want to thank all the Parliamentary Secretaries for their excellent work," said the Prime Minister. "They provided a broad range of assistance to our government’s Ministers, and have made a very significant contribution to our success in meeting the needs of Canadians."

While some Parliamentary Secretaries are continuing in their current assignments, the Prime Minister also rotated assignments among other members of Caucus in order for the government to benefit from their valuable experience.

A list of Parliamentary Secretaries is attached. The appointments are effective September 1st, 2000.
