Prime Minister Announces Changes in the Senior Ranks of the Public Service

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the following changes in the Public Service:

Frank Claydon, currently Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, becomes Secretary of the Treasury Board and Comptroller General of Canada, effective April 10, 2000.

Samy Watson, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultation), Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, effective April 10, 2000.

Robert Fonberg, currently Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, Liaison Secretariat for Macroeconomic Policy, Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultation), Privy Council Office, effective April 10, 2000.

Judith LaRocque, currently Secretary to the Governor General, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage, effective April 21, 2000.

Barbara Uteck, currently Senior Policy Advisor to the Governor General, becomes Secretary to the Governor General, effective April 21, 2000.
