Prime Minister Jean Chrétien issued the following statement to announce the postponement of the Team Canada mission to Europe, which was to have taken place from March 25 to April 4, 2003:

"Exceptional circumstances have obliged us to postpone the Team Canada mission to Europe. Elections anticipated in a number of provinces prevent some of the premiers from participating on the mission. In addition, owing to concerns and uncertainty created by the international climate, a number of Canadian companies were reluctant to participate at this time. It has therefore been decided to undertake this important trade and investment mission to Europe at a later date."
