Statement by the Prime Minister on the retirement of John Hamm, Premier of Nova Scotia
September 29, 2005
Prime Minister Paul Martin today made the following statement:
“I learned today of John Hamm’s decision to retire as Premier of Nova Scotia. Premier Hamm’s steadfast commitment to all Nova Scotians have helped to make Nova Scotia a strong and vibrant province.
A true gentleman, it was impossible to not be impressed by the dignified way in which the Premier expressed the position of Nova Scotia and promoted the interests of all of Canada in our many discussions. I thank him for his contribution.
As Premier of Nova Scotia since 1999, and as a physician for over 30 years, John Hamm has made a real and positive difference in the lives of many Canadians.
I wish him and his wife Genesta all the best in their future endeavours”
