Prime Minister Martin condemns bombings in Amman, Jordan

Prime Minister Paul Martin issued the following statement condemning a series of bombings today that targeted hotels in Amman, Jordan:
“Canada strongly condemns this terrorist attack, clearly aimed at innocent civilians. On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my deepest condolences to the victims and their families. We offer our support to King Abdullah and the people of Jordan at this difficult time.
“Jordan has an important role to play in the Middle East Peace Process and in combatting terrorism more broadly. The struggle against this scourge must continue, and Canada will work closely with Jordan and other members of the international community to strengthen our commitment and means to defeat it.”
