[1] On 5 Nov. 1873 Macdonald resigned and the Governor General invited Mackenzie to form a Government. The Second Ministry assumed office on 7 Nov. 1873.

[2] Mackenzie was also Minister of Public Works.

[4] Fournier was appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General on 3 July 1874.

[5] Laflamme was appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General on 8 July 1877.

[6] The Minister of the Interior was ex officio the Superintendent-General of Indian Affairs.

[7] Fournier was appointed Postmaster General on 19 May 1875.

[8] Blake was appointed President of the Privy Council on 8 June 1877.

[9] Huntington was appointed Postmaster General on 9 Oct. 1875.

[10] Cauchon was appointed Minister of Inland Revenue on 8 June 1877.

[11] The Secretary of State of Canada was ex officio the Registrar General of Canada.

[12] Blake resigned from the ministry on 13 Feb. 1874, but subsequently rejoined it as Minister of Justice and Attorney General on 19 May 1875.

[13] Scott was appointed Secretary of State of Canada on 9 Jan. 1874.
