Attached is the text of a letter that has been sent by Prime Minister Jean Chrétien to the Premiers and Territorial leaders inviting them to a First Ministers Meeting to be held on September 11, 2000 in Ottawa.

I am writing to invite Premiers and Territorial Government Leaders to a meeting of First Ministers to be held in Ottawa on September 11, 2000. Logistical and meeting arrangements will be forwarded to your offices separately.

On the basis of the progress achieved to date, I believe we can conclude agreements on health care, early childhood development and infrastructure.

Canadians expect their governments to work together to ensure their prosperity and quality of life. I am confident that, putting the interests of all Canadians first, we will have a productive and successful meeting of First Ministers.
