Prime Minister to meet Mayor of Toronto

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien will meet with Mayor Mel Lastman of Toronto, tomorrow, Wednesday, March 10, 1999.

The Government of Canada -- with the active assistance of its Caucus members -- is redefining its relationship with the City of Toronto to keep pace with the changes brought about by the City's amalgamation. This meeting gives the Prime Minister and Mayor Lastman a chance to take stock of a number of issues of mutual concern, and to share ideas on how existing federal-municipal partnerships can be updated and enhanced to reflect this new reality.

The meeting will take place in Room 309-S, Centre Block at 4:00 PM. There will be a photo opportunity at the beginning of the meeting.
