PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN THE SENIOR RANKS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Munir Sheikh, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Health, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Finance.

Janice Charette, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans and Consultations), Privy Council Office, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Health.

Michael Wernick, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage, becomes Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Plans ad Consultations), Privy Council Office.

Diane Vincent, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

These appointments are effective July 2, 2003.
