Prime Minister announces changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service

NEWS RELEASE
Prime Minister Paul Martin was pleased to announce today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:
Marie Fortier, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, becomes Deputy Minister, Intergovernmental Affairs, Privy Council Office, effective April 26, 2004. She succeeds Claire Morris who has retired from the Public Service.
Michelle d'Auray, currently the government's Chief Information Officer, Treasury Board Secretariat, becomes Deputy Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, effective
May 10, 2004. Ms. d'Auray succeeds Marc Lafrenière who is retiring.
Robert Fonberg, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations), Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Minister for International Trade, effective May 10, 2004.
Yaprak Baltacioglu, currently Assistant Secretary, Social Development Policy, Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations), Privy Council Office, effective May 10, 2004.
Suzanne Tining, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations, Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, effective June 14, 2004.
Susan Peterson, currently Assistant Deputy Minister of Cultural Affairs, Canadian Heritage, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Canadian Heritage, effective April 13, 2004.
Jean-Claude Villiard, currently Deputy Minister of Industry, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office, effective May 10, 2004.
Suzanne Hurtubise, currently Deputy Minister of the Environment, becomes Deputy Minister of Industry, effective May 10, 2004.
Samy Watson, currently Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, becomes Deputy Minister of the Environment, effective May 10, 2004.
