Activities by the Honourable Rona Ambrose in Brazil



OTTAWA, ONTARIO - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of Western Economic Diversification is on a working visit to Brazil from July 13 to July 18, 2007.


Canada’s New Government is committed to enhance its relations with Brazil and in the Americas. During her tour, Minister Ambrose will highlight the importance of Canada’s commercial relations with Brazil and share, with a variety of Brazilian interlocutors, how Canada promotes democratic development, human rights, human security and cultural diversity around the world.


Today in Rio de Janeiro, Minister Ambrose will attend the opening ceremony of the Pan American Games where Canadians will be part of the 5,000 athletes from 42 countries competing in the next two weeks.


Next week, Minister Ambrose will tour several Brazilian cities, attending meetings with government representatives, meeting ambassadors of other federal countries accredited to Brazil, attending a roundtable on federalism and visiting a CIDA project. On July 16th she will speak to the Associaçiao Comercial de Santos in Sao Paulo.
