Prime Minister's message to the Canadian troops

Following is a text of Prime Minister Jean Chrétien's message
to Canadian Forces troops posted abroad:
"It is a great pleasure for me to offer holiday greetings
to the men and women of the Canadian Forces serving overseas.
In particular, I want to send greetings to all those serving
in Canada's peacekeeping missions.
Canadians are very proud of our long tradition of peacekeeping.
And we are proud that our presence in the Balkans has helped
lay the groundwork for a peace agreement.
After years of violence and conflict, there is finally hope
for a real and lasting peace. Canadians have an important role
to play in supporting the peace process.
My family joins me in wishing you a safe and happy holiday,
and all the best in the new year."
