PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCES STAFF
CHANGES

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced changes to
his Press Office:
Marianne Goodwin assumes the
role of Press Secretary to the Prime Minister. Prior to this appointment, Ms.
Goodwin was Legislative Assistant to the Minister of Defence Art Eggleton
(1997-2000). From 1993-97, she was Special Assistant for Legislation to Industry
Minister John Manley and from 1992-93 she served as Policy Advisor to the Deputy
Premier and Minister of Energy and Resources of Quebec, Lise Bacon.
Ms. Goodwin replaces Randall McCauley who is moving into
the private sector. In order to ensure continuity during the transition period,
Mr. McCauley has agreed to stay on until the end of February.
Duncan Fulton assumes the
role of Deputy Press Secretary. At the time of this appointment, Mr. Fulton was
Director of Communications to Minister of International Cooperation Maria Minna,
a post he has held since 1999. From 1997-99, Mr. Fulton served as Press
Secretary and media strategist with the Ontario Leader of the Opposition.
Mr. Fulton replaces Sophie Galarneau who has served the
Prime Minister as Deputy Press Secretary and Press Officer since 1997 and is
leaving to pursue her career in the public service.
