A few weeks ago, the people of Canada renewed their confidence in our government and asked us to lead our country into the new century. On behalf of my colleagues, I accepted this great privilege and responsibility. And I pledged to continue to make every effort to earn the trust of all Canadians.

As we begin a new year and a new mandate, our government stands ready to put forward its plan to make Canada a land of opportunity for all. With the help of Canadians, we will make it happen.
