Sheila Copps rejoins Cabinet

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced that the Honourable Sheila Copps, after having been re-elected as Member of Parliament for Hamilton East, has rejoined the Cabinet as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Canadian Heritage.

In announcing this appointment, the Prime Minister expressed his pleasure in welcoming Ms. Copps to Cabinet, and looked forward to her continued service to the Government and to the people of Canada.
