Appointments to the Canadian Centre for Management Development

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment of two new members to the Board of Governors of the Canadian Centre for Management Development.

Jean Bernard of Cumberland, Ontario, spent over thirty years with Bell Canada. She held a number of executive positions, including Vice-President (Personnel) and President of the Bell Institute for Professional Development, a position she held until her retirement in February 1994.

André Galipeault of Toronto, Ontario is President of The Institute of Corporate Directors. He previously held the position of President of Fasken Martineau Davis. Prior to that, he spent twenty-six years with Texaco Canada where he occupied several senior positions, culminating in the position of Vice-President and General Counsel.

The Centre is dedicated to enhancing public sector management capabilities, excellence in teaching and research into public sector management, and promoting a strong corporate culture in the federal public service.
