Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire to visit Canada

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced that the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire, Daniel Kablan Duncan, will visit Canada from October 7 to 10. The purpose of the visit is to forge closer economic links between the Côte d'Ivoire and Canada.

"Canada and Côte d'Ivoire already enjoy excellent relations and I am confident that closer economic links will enhance them further," Mr. Chrétien said. "I am also pleased to have this first opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Duncan to discuss the relations between our countries and our common objectives in La Francophonie."

During his visit, Prime Minister Duncan will meet with Prime Minister Chrétien, the Minister for International Cooperation and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Don Boudria, Quebec and Ontario government representatives, as well as Canadian business representatives.
