Chief Government Whip appointed October 23, 1996 Ottawa, Ontario Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment of Bob Kilger, M.P. (Stormont--Dundas) as Chief Government Whip, effective immediately. Born in Cornwall, Ontario, on June 29, 1944, Mr. Kilger was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988. During this Parliament Mr. Kilger has served as Assistant Deputy Chairman of Committees of the Whole, and subsequently as Deputy Chairman of Committees of the Whole.
