Statement by the Prime Minister August 31, 1997 Ottawa, Ontario Prime Minister Chrétien expressed his shock this evening at the news of the tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales. "I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family of Princess Diana as well as to those of the other victims of this senseless accident.
