Prime Minister Announces Appointment Of New Deputy Head Of The Millennium Bureau Of Canada July 29, 1998 Ottawa, Ontario Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the appointment of Mr. Dan Goodleaf as Deputy Head of the Millennium Bureau of Canada. In this role, Mr. Goodleaf will have the rank of Deputy Minister, responsible for assisting Deputy Prime Minister Herb Gray in the development of "Canada and the Millennium," the government's initiative to involve all Canadians in the celebration of the new Millennium. The Prime Minister took this opportunity to express his appreciation to Huguette Labelle for assuming the additional responsibilities as Deputy Head of the Bureau and for providing leadership since the launch of the initiative in March, while continuing to serve as President of the Canadian International Development Agency. Mr. Goodleaf is currently Canada's Ambassador to the Republic of Costa Rica. His appointment is effective August 4, 1998. Biographical notes attached.
