Prime Minister Announces Senior Appointments

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien today announced the following appointments:

Michel Dorais, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Intergovernmental Operations), Privy Council Office, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, effective November 2, 1998.

Alexander Himelfarb, currently Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Board Secretariat, with responsibilities for the Social Union Task Force, becomes Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board, effective immediately.

Paul Thibault, currently Executive Director of the Immigration and Refugee Board, becomes Federal Coordinator for Year 2000 Contingency Planning, Department of National Defence, effective October 26, 1998.
