Population 15 years and over by school attendance, provinces and territories

Definitions

School attendance: Refers to either full-time or part-time (day or evening) attendance at school, college or university. Attendance is counted only for courses that could be used as credits towards a certificate, diploma or degree. Courses taken for leisure, recreation or personal interest are excluded. For 1991 the reference period was from September 1990 to June 4, 1991; for 1996 the reference period was from September 1995 to May 14, 1996. For 2001, the reference period was from September 2000 to May 15, 2001.

Full time: 75% or more of the normal course load in the grade or year in which the person was registered.

Part time: Short-term courses of six weeks or less taken during the day or evening.
