Income:
Refers to money received from the following sources by persons 15 years of age and over:
wages and salaries; net farm self-employment; net non-farm self-employment income from
unincorporated business and/or professional practice; federal Child Tax benefits; Old Age
Security pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement; benefits from Canada or Quebec Pension
Plan; benefits from Unemployment Insurance; other income from government sources;
investment income; retirement pensions, and other money income.Earnings (employment
income): Refers to money received by persons 15 years of age and over from wages and
salaries; net farm self-employment income; and net non-farm self-employment income from
unincorporated business or professional practice.
Family income: Refers to the total incomes of all members of a census family 15
years of age and over. A census family is a couple who are married or living
common-law (with or without never-married sons or daughters living with them), or a lone
parent living with at least one never-married son or daughter.
Household income: Refers to the total incomes of all members
of a household 15 years of age and over. A household may consist of
a family group (census family) with or without other non-family persons;
of two or more families sharing a dwelling; of a group of unrelated
persons; or of one person living alone.
