Experienced labour force:
Refers to persons 15 years of age and over, excluding institutional residents, who were employed or
unemployed during the week prior to Census Day, and who worked for pay or in self-employment in either
1995 or in 1996. The experienced labour force can be derived by excluding from the total labour force
those unemployed persons 15 years of age and over who have never worked or who last worked prior to January 1, 1995.
Industry: The 1996 census industry data are produced according to the 1980
Standard Industrial Classification. This classification arranges industries into 18 divisions, 75 major groups and
296 groups. Classification is based on the general nature of the establishment's business, industry or service. For
further information, see Standard Industrial Classification, 1980, Catalogue No. 12-501E. The job reported was the
one held during the week prior to the census. If the person did not have a job in this week, they were to report the
job of longest duration since January 1, 1995. |
