What is an RSS Feed
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it's an easy and free way for you to quickly get CCOHS news delivered straight to your computer. So instead of searching and browsing the CCOHS website to see what's new or updated, you can subscribe to an RSS feed that you check at your convenience in your favorite RSS reader.
RSS feeds will let you know when new content has been added. RSS feeds contain a headline, summary and a link back to the full story on the CCOHS website.
How do I Use RSS Feeds
First you’ll need an RSS reader. This is software that checks your feeds and lets you read new content as its added. There are many good RSS readers available and they do not take long to set up.
Once you have a reader, you can start deciding what CCOHS Feeds you want to receive. Adding the feed is as simple as clicking on its corresponding RSS icon or copying its feed URL to your RSS reader. If you have Internet Explorer 7.0 or Firefox 1.0 and above, it will automatically add the feed to your reader. If you have an earlier version of Internet Explorer, you will be taken to a new page. Copy that page’s URL into your feed reader. Your reader will tell you how to save it. You will now be sent any new content from that feed.
Where can I get an RSS reader?
In general, there are two kinds of RSS readers: dedicated desktop readers, and web-based readers. With a desktop reader, you will need to install software on your computer. A web-based news reader can be accessed from any computer, and does not require a software download.
Also, the latest versions of Firefox, Opera, Safari, and Internet Explorer all allow you to view RSS feeds within the browser itself. Note that certain readers will work better on different operating systems. You will need to take these factors into account if you choose to install a dedicated desktop reader.
