LAUNCH OF A NEW FRENCH LANGUAGE ONLINE PROGRAM ON MANAGEMENT OF NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

Halifax, September 12, 2005 - Université Sainte-Anne and the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick-campus de Dieppe officially announce the launch of a new on-line program for the management of non-for-profit organizations. This program, called "Gestion des organismes à but non-luctratif" will be offered in French and is aimed at all managers, employees and volunteers of non-for-profit organizations in Canada. This initiative is the result of a partnership between Université Sainte-Anne, the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick-campus de Dieppe, the Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse et la Société éducative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard.

This seven course program aims to help the people involved in a non-for-profit organization (managers, employees and volunteers) to be more efficient in various tasks and help them to manage responsibilities in a more productive manner. An attestation of post-secondary studies in management of non-for-profit organizations will be jointly awarded by Université Sainte-Anne and the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick-campus de Dieppe to all students who complete the program's requirements.

"This program, which is still in its early stages, will be very successful among many francophone volunteer organizations in the Atlantic region. There is no doubt in my mind of its value and the positive effects on all volunteer organizations that will benefit from it," said the Honourable David L. Emerson, Minister of Industry.
"Université Sainte-Anne's contribution to the realisation of this program demonstrates our engagement to participate in the development and enrichment of Acadian and Francophone communities in the Atlantic regions and in Canada", declares Allister Surette, Vice-president, development and partnerships at Université Sainte-Anne."
"The Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick - campus de Dieppe is pleased to have lent its expertise in the field of E-learning and to offer this program jointly with Université Sainte-Anne", states Claude Allard, principal of the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick - campus de Dieppe. "Web-based training enables us to reach Acadian and French populations that are often geographically dispersed.", adds Mr. Allard.

Seven proposed courses are available and may be taken as a whole program or independently from one another, with or without an accompanying tutor. The address of the Internet site is: http://dieppeweb.ccnb.nb.ca/obnl/.

This project has been made possible by financial contribution by through Industry Canada's Francommunautés virtuelles program, as well as Canada Heritage's Canadian Culture Online program.
