A strong believer in
the theory of the "common good," a pioneering humanitarian and woman of deep
social conscience, Thérèse Casgrain (1896-1981) gained international stature in the
world peace movement.
She was instrumental
in womens suffrage endeavours in the province of Quebec, and was President of The
League for Women`s Rights. In 1970, she was appointed to the Senate.
