throughout the French-speaking world, author Antonine Maillet is a native of Bouctouche,
New Brunswick.
Her literary output
is impressive. Her novel Pélagie-la-Charrette won the prestigious Prix Goncourt in
1979. Other literary works include La Sagouine, Les Cordes-de-Bois, Le
Huitième Jour and Évangéline Deusse.
Madame

worldwide influence of French literature. She is a true ambassador of the Acadian people.
