Rosemary Brown (born
1930) became the first black woman member of any Canadian parliamentary body when she was
elected to the British Columbia provincial legislature in 1972.
She has had a
distinguished career as social worker, academic, politician and feminist. Ms. Brown has
focused on achieving justice and equality for women and minorities with the unwavering
single mindedness captured here, and which she advocates for the successful woman of
today.
