Manuscript of the first episode of Un homme et son péché, 1938, by Claude-Henri Grignon (1894-1976), produced by Guy Mauffette

Un homme et son péché was a soap opera which ran daily on Radio-Canada for 23 years. It was based on Grignon's novel of the same title. The hero was a miser who became the central figure in the radio drama, a TV version and two films. Grignon won Quebec's Prix David for this powerful novel in 1935. It was translated into English as The Woman and the Miser (1978).

Guy Mauffette (born 1915) began his career as a radio producer with Radio-Canada in 1937 and produced Un homme et son péché (Les belles histoires des Pays d'en haut) from 1938 to 1944.

His fonds is a good resource for researchers interested in radio broadcasting as well as in the evolution of French-language literature, music and theatre in Canada.
