Russ Jackson, quarterback, Ottawa Rough Riders,
ca. 1969, by Ted Grant
Russ Jackson (born 1936) was named Most Valuable Player
(MVP) of the Canadian Football League three times during the 1960s. His outstanding play as quarterback defied
the league’s traditional practice of using an import American player for that pivotal position. In his
final season in 1969, he was named league MVP and top Canadian, as well as the Grey Cup MVP.
