Duncan McNaughton
Canadian high jumper Duncan McNaughton, winner of a gold medal at the IXth Summer Olympic Games, Los Angeles, 1932, photographer unknown

High jumper Duncan McNaughton (1910-1998) won the gold medal in the high jump at the 1932 Los Angeles Games with a jump of 1.97 metres. Interestingly, McNaughton had not participated in the Canadian Olympic trials and was allowed to be a last minute addition to the Canadian team only because he was living and attending school on an athletic scholarship in Los Angeles.
