Debbie Brill in competition at the XXth Summer
Olympic Games in Munich, September 1972, photographer unknown
One of the top high jumpers in the world during the
late 1960s and 1970s, Debbie Brill (born 1953) was an innovator with her unique jumping style, known
as the “Brill Bend.” A free spirit in a technical sport, her greatest moment came at the World Cup
in Montreal in 1979, when she beat the world’s best high jumpers with a jump of 1.96 metres.
